Vehicle Insurance Advisory Notice

If your vehicle has been issued with a Vehicle Insurance Advisory Notice , DVLA records indicate that a Fixed Penalty Notice has been issued for this vehicle and that it is being used on the road without a record of insurance on the Motor Insurance Database (MID).

Without a valid motor insurance policy in place, you are breaking the law by using or keeping this vehicle on the road and are at risk of penalties and your vehicle being clamped or seized for no insurance.

What should you do next

If you need any advice regarding this notice, please follow the instructions on the notice to contact the askMID advice line. You will NOT be asked to disclose any financial information or make any form of payment by the askMID advice line.

UK law requires a vehicle to be insured at all times unless it has been declared "off the road" with the DVLA.

If you wish to use your vehicle on the road, you must insure your vehicle immediately.
- You can check your vehicle is appearing on the MID here

If you believe you are insured, you will need to contact your insurance provider to ensure your policy details are uploaded to the mid.

If you don't want to use the vehicle, then you must contact the DVLA to declare the vehicle "off road" using a Statutory Off Road Notification (SORN).
